





































SERVICE SCHOLARSIPS FOR STUDENTS
If you are involved in the followings activities you may be eligeble for a service scholarship
• Tutoring/ Mentoring K-12
• Community-based service addressing human needs
• Community work study position in a local service agency
• Participating in service or Service-Learning activities
.....................Note: Financial need is NOT a consideration for this scholarship
How It Works
• Students engage in service activities and report time and progress to a sponsor
• The hours accumalted over the course of 12 months, September 1 to August 31
• At the end of the service, students exit the program and recieve a scholarship
• These are the three scholarships amounts, correlating to three different service terms:
.....................300 hours (10 hours/ week during the academic year) = $1,000
.....................450 hours (15 hours/ week during the academic year) = $1,250
.....................900 hours (30 hours/ week during the academic year) = $2,363 ............................. .Note : The 900 hours can be extended over two academic years ...............................
............. (Hours per week are calculated over the school calander year, or 30 weeks)
The Answer is YES
• Community Work Study: As a community-based work study, your hours working in tutoring, mentoring, or addressing human needs DO count toward the grant.
• Volunteering: If you involved in a volunteer program that adresses tutoring, mentoring, or addressing human needs your hours DO count toward the grant.
Nursing Clinicals, Sociology Fieldwork or Student Teaching: If you are involved in an unpaid student teaching position, pacticum, or fieldwork for education, sociology, nursing etc. in which you are tutoring mentoring, or addressing unmet human needs in a community, your hours DO count towards this grant.
