Work-Study
is a Federal financial assistance program for students.
Work-Study awards are made to students as part of the
student’s financial aid package through the Financial
Aid Office.
HOW AND WHERE DO YOU GO TO GET A WORK-STUDY JOB?
After learning from the Financial Aid Office that
you have been awarded Work-Study, it will be your responsibility
to apply for and obtain a Work-Study job. Career and
Volunteer Service Cener posts jobs available in our
office. Work-Study jobs are posted a few days before
school
begins and throughout
the
school year.
Look over the Work-Study job postings; read the announcements
carefully and be certain you are qualified for the
position and able to work the hours requested. Write
down the contact information for the positions that
interest you. You will then want to pick up and fill
in an application form, (you will need to complete
one for each position you apply for) and apply directly
to the appropriate person or department. Be certain
to dress appropriately for the interview, and to check
back often with the hiring department to show interest
in obtaining the position.
Our Student Employment Director, Kathy
Murray,
will be happy to assist you in the process and will
give you a referral card.
IS THE MONEY YOURS?
Receiving the work-study award makes you eligible
to APPLY for any of the Work-Study positions you are
qualified for, and earn up to the dollar amount of
your award. However, there is no guarantee that you
will obtain one of these work-study positions. If you
are not able to obtain a work-study position, the money
is not yours. You will recive a pay check on the 10th
and 25th of the month for hours worked.
WHAT IF YOU DON’T GET A WORK-STUDY POSITION?
If you are not able to obtain a Work-Study position,
you can apply for the Regular Payroll on-campus positions.
Regular payroll is available throughout the entire
year. You can also apply for off-campus employment.
STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK MORE THAN 19 HOURS
PER WEEK ON CAMPUS
